SHL.UK offers regular and emergency contraception to people over the age of 16 who live in Lambeth, Southwark, Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham, Westminster, Lewisham, Ealing, Harrow, Hackney, City of London, Brent, Kingston, Barnet, Islington, Camden, and Bexley (if you live in Bexley you can use the contraception services, however, please note this is currently a pilot).
It’s for people who want to start using contraception or continue their current method.
How does it work
Step 1: Register or Login in to SHL.UK.
Choose the type of contraception you need. If you need both emergency contraception and regular contraception, choose emergency contraception first.
Step 2: Explore your options
First, you’ll be asked a few questions about your health and personal circumstances.
If you choose regular contraception, you’ll be given a choice of contraceptives to order online. You’ll usually have the choice of selecting from 3, 6 or 12 months supply. You can also choose to have a pregnancy test and condoms supplied with emergency contraception.
Step 3: Ordering contraception through SHL.UK
If you choose to order online, you’ll be seamlessly transferred to LloydsPharmacy Online Doctor where you’ll complete a full consultation which will be reviewed by a clinician to assess what you might need and whether it’s medically suitable for you. If a blood pressure measurement is needed, you may have to come to pharmacy to get it checked.
Step 4: Choose between delivery or collection
If you’re prescribed contraception,
you can either pick it up from a Lloyds Pharmacy, or have it delivered by post, or sent to a Parcelshop. Delivery to your address or a Parcelshop usually takes
3-5 days to arrive. It's best to collect emergency contraception from pharmacy
but if you can't, you can choose to have it posted by next-day delivery. If you
are 16 or 17 years old, you’ll need to collect your prescription from a
pharmacy.
Step 5: Your prescription
Once a clinician has reviewed your consultation, you’ll receive a message in your Patient Record to confirm that contraception has been prescribed or to request more information. If you’ve opted for pharmacy collection you can attend as soon as 1 hour after your treatment is prescribed. Please don’t attend pharmacy unless you’ve had a message confirming your treatment is prescribed.
