How do I get emergency contraception?

After you log in or register, you will see the ‘start a consultation’ section on the ‘my account’ page. If there is an option for ‘consultation for contraception’, you can click on this to start a new consultation.

If emergency contraception (morning after pill) is prescribed, you’ll be able to collect from selected pharmacies or choose next-day delivery. If we need you to collect in store, you will only have this option.

If you are 16 or 17 years old you may be required to speak to a clinician on the phone prior to treatment being prescribed.

There is a limit, set by the service, to the number of times one person can order emergency contraception within a specified period. If you are approaching this limit the SHL team will attempt to make contact with you to discuss your request for emergency contraception and support you in choosing a reliable routine method of contraception. If you have reached the set limit you will need to attend a sexual health clinic, see your GP or local pharmacist to obtain emergency contraception (there may be a charge in pharmacy).
